Gumboot Friday
On gumboot Friday we made cards that would brighten peoples day. The cards had little quotes on them like ‘Be brave. Be kind. Be you’. For those of you that don't know what Gumboot Friday is, it's a day that most New Zealanders do to support Mental Health. Mental Health is about how you feel about yourself, some people suffer from bad mental health and it can make them very unhappy. Most people wear gumboots and you can raise money. The goal is to get 2 million dollars!
A few people from Te Waka Ako got to fill in a form about what is imprtant in Puketepapa. My sister got to do it (Check out her blog here) and her opinion was that we write little quotes and nice things like I hope this brightens your day. We got put into groups of 9 or 10, and we got some parent helpers to take us for a walk to deliver the cards. We delivered them into letterboxes. We found a tree house and it had a letterboxes next to it, so we put one in there as well as the other letterboxes. We had heaps of fun. Someone in our group asked some questions, and we answered them if you got it right you got to put it in the letterboxes it was FUN! It was a really good day.
I think supporting mental health is important because... it can change people lives! So be kind to people.
