Last week, a lot of students from all over Auckland marched for climate change. They all got together on Queen Street, the main street of Auckland.
There were a lot of people on the side of the road watching like older people and adults too but one person climbed onto a roof to watch and he was in a pink dressing gown. Te Waka Ako were all wearing orange beanies and because of that they got on the news and stood out! They also made their own chant up and it went like this: ‘Hey hey ho ho climate change has got to go! Hey hey ho ho climate change has got to go!’
It turned out to be the most used chant. There was some really cool signs. Someone even painted the earth on a yoga ball! Te Waka Ako left a little bit early and went to a reserve near Spark Arena. It had fountains there and Te Waka Ako sat down and had some kai (food) and then played while they waited for the bus to come.
It wasn't just Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland) who were involved, heaps of other cities in Aotearoa (New Zealand) did it too like Wellington and Dunedin. Wellington would be the best place to march because the government is there and the main street is next to the Beehive!
